Hello forum!
I've snooped into your conversation for a while and I finally decided to subscribe! I'll probably ask for help soon as me and my companion have decided to get a caique who will likely arrive in the next 3 months.
I researched a lot and waited almost 2 yrs to decided what type would better fit in our lifestyle. I'm a remote worker and I generally spend a lot of time home. I bought the biggest cage possible for him to have enough space to play and stretch (it's medium/big parrot sized really), and fit a few toys in it when we're not home.
I'm a newbie but I have an amazing experienc with a son conure and a (pretty bad) experience with a rescue GCC that used to bite HARD. So, I know I'll see tantrums, I'll be bitten, I'll have to clean poop and save my forniture, and I'll have many bad or ugly days. But I read a lot and I'm willing to take courses in order to give my WBC the best life possible.
If you read this all, thank you for the attention and for your great advices!

Thanks for your reply! The bar spacing is less than a inch so he won't go through! However, I need to reinforce the closures as they're pretty ridiculous and the guy could easily learn to break free!

Ahahah same! It's maybe a little early for me as I don't have a parrot yet. But they're such fascinating little creatures and I can't wait for mine to come home.
Thank you all for your welcome

It's never too early! We have many members join while they are in the process of bringing home a bird, or even just contemplating life with a bird.
We are all excited with you in anticipation of your feathered companion coming home! :bliss:

that's so very sweet of you, thanks!
"The good, bad and ugly" thread about Caique was extremely important for me to read and I think it's schoolbook-worthy!

Thank you all for the replies! I'm carefully reading all the resources in here to be as prepared as possible for my very first pet.
As I said, thankfully my mum adopted a very sad and over-plucked/mutilated green cheek conure, which is now much better with some love, a better diet/sleep routine and a lot of patience. Even on the worst days, the bites, the blood and the mistakes we've made- even the smallest progress was something that touched me very deeply and I was eventually touched by the will of this little plucked thing to communicate with us. They don't joke at all, they're challenging but eventually very, very rewarding.
Glad to be here and find some amazing resources!
