Welcome I have the same advice as you already, find a snackum that he really likes and only you feed it to him, (I always say Yummmmm when I give it to them) No husband around when you work with him, and always talk in a soothing voice. I'm always going and talking to our birds and giving them snackums. Most of all take your time don't rush him or force yourself on him, watch his body language.
