I noticed that there a LOT of avian vets not listed there -- for Ohio. Probably other states too.

Hi. I jut joined your forum. I have a little girl / Hahns Macaw. Hahnna is 12 weeks. I noticed Dr. Doolan from North Star is not in your recommended list. I was just wondering if there was a reason why? He was referred to me, but we were unable to get an appointment with him. We ended up taking Hahnna to Dr. Apllegate who is located in Oakhurst. He trained under Dr. Doolan and is a certified Avian specialist. I had a good experience with him, although a bit pricey. Charged $40 just to remove Hahnna's leg band,all in all $428 for a stuffy nose. I felt he was very good with her and seemed knowledgable. Has anyone here had any experience good or bad with Dr. Applegate or Dr. DOolan? Only complaint I have with Doolan is when I called they said they would leave a message for his liaison Jamie to see if they could fit Hahnna in and no one ever called me. Called again and same thing. Look forward to participating on your forum.

It is probably just because no one has used that vet it is by no means a complete listing.

I have to add Stalh Exotics (Fairfax, VA) to this thread. They are not on the list (link) provided. Dr. Stalh is an amazing doctor who has saved my little guy more then once... I highly recommend him and this team!

There is one that is not a certified avian vet that I know of....and would not recommend for birds.

oh ok... well i dont think i could drive out of the city in an emergency, not to mention i am living on ssi... I probably cant afford a vet bill anyways.

I do not think that that website has been updated in a few years. There is a forum section, Add Your Favorite Vets Here | Avian Avenue Parrot Forum , where members can make a thread about a veterinarian that they would like to recommend.

Central hospital in north haven, ct has the best avian dr she will be board certified soon. Dr Julia Shakeri she has been so great to our little green cheek when he broke his wing

I see a place at the bottom of the page where you can request a vet be added to the list (which I certainly will ask that Dr. Thedford in Plano, TX be added!) but is there a place where we can also suggest which ones to not go to? I think it's just as helpful to know which ones are strongly not recommended, and why, so other parronts can make more informed decisions.
