Phoenix, my beautiful male orange and blue Betta died today, he had velvet, a parasite where you shine a flashlight on them, and it looks like someone sprinkled gold dust on them. It is treatable, and I did try, but given his age it seemed bleak... he was 3-4 years and started slowing down a lot. I placed him in a hospital tank with meds, and he was fine, until earlier this afernoon, when he jumped from the tank and ended up on the floor, he must have done this when a tank warmer was added and he didnt like it, we didn't notice for a bit, but when we did, it appeared too late, he was bent in a weird way, and was clearly struggling. I couldn't watch him in pain, and used the clove oil method to put him to sleep. He went peacefully and very quickly.
Good bye my little bud, rest in paradise free of illness, old age and injury. Thanks for the great 3 years, Ill miss you <3
