So I gave up on the Cnc in favor of a freeze dryer. I often don’t order products because I need so much. So I splurged to just do it myself. Any hints or tips from those of you that have one? It won’t be here for a couple of months though.

It's here. My only problem for the humans is that I need to learn how to cook. Oiy. Dumb question...do you blanch all your veggies before freezing @Nikomania? I'm going to run a double batch of chop and blueberries. Apparently blueberries are good for a cavalier's eye gunk so I need to invest in many. Had to get rid of my kitchen table. I'm just too worried to have it out in the garage since my toy workshop is there now...dust from things. We ran the bread test and it's noise is about the same as a vacuum cleaner. A little annoying but not a deal breaker. Going to try the local farm market saturday and see what I can get into. Love that group and if you are in there and talked to me, I have no clue

Omg awesome!!

I’d love one of these for saving all the crap we grow on the garden so we have a year round supply.
They seem to be getting smaller and more affordable so I’ll keep dreaming for now lol

Could have kicked myself as someone was going out of business last month in my tiny town and had two large that I might have been able to get for a decent price darnit.

Congrats on your new FD! I don't blanch any of my veggies as I'd like to retain as many of the food's nutrients as possible for my clients' feathered babies. If the veggies are for you, then you might want to consider a flash blanching of green beans. Just experiment, as everyone's tastes are different.

If you're sublimating blueberries, these must be either individually poked or cut in half. Otherwise you may encounter fruit that isn't completely freeze dried.

FYI: your shelving unit is upside down in this image. The orange surface is the heating element, and these must be positioned on top of each tray.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions. And, welcome to your new obsession! ;)
