Checking out the neighborhood
Hi All --
Glad to be apart of this community. I recently lost my Congo Grey after having been through most of my life with her. The past 26 years were a joy to have with Cookie. I guess I'm looking for a place to both share my experiences of birdie companionship, as well as grieve over her sudden passing.
I am 34 years old from sunny southern California. My wife and I love gardening and animals. Instead of having children, we may just adopt as many birds as possible!
I started young, and I parented my own budgies since the age of 12; then I upgraded to cockatiels as a teen later on.. Buuuut since I was an irresponsible kid who couldn't keep his own undergarments clean (let alone care for parrots), my parents eventually found better homes for them. Eventually I grew older, and alongside our Congo Grey Cookie, we matured together. Cookie had been with our family since I was 9. She was very smart and loved every member of the family and was loved by all. Now she's flying freely in birdy heaven.
Anyway -- enough of the sob story! Hoping to learn more about the best companions to man (I love dogs too, but we all know birds are superior!).
