Hello again all! What type of food should I get for my 9 week old yellowsided conure. The breeder mixes his own and it was all cockteil seeds and sunflower seed. We did our research and know it should be around 80% pellets and the rest seeds. What brands do you recommend to be sure he gets all his nutrition. He also gets his fruit and veggies.

Roudybush daily is a fave of both of mine the crumble is a good size for a younger, smaller bird.

ours loves his rowdy bush but really there are lots of good pellets and the big thing is if your bird will eat it. @Mizzely has a great article on pellets. You might consider trying a variety and see which one yours likes. You might look over the articles on transitioning to pellets as it looks like your little one may need a transition period considering he is just settling in.

Great! Thank you. Yes we figured he would need a transition period so thought we add a little at a time to the food the breeder sent home. Heading to Rens pet depot to source out some food.

Whichever pellet they eat and you can afford ;)

I really like Harrison's, Hagen, Psittacus, and Roudybush. However I've found that these are not all always easy sells to the bird. I've had best luck getting seed eaters to first eat Zupreem Fruity and then converting them from there.

Great! OK these are some of the brands we have researched. We know it may take testing out a few to figure out what he will like. Just gave him some cooked carrots and a little broccoli for him to try. He has been on apples and seeds since he was weaned.

Your YS GCC is beautiful! Congratulations. I also have one that I got as a baby and he is now 2 and WONDERFUL. I have had him in a large cage from the beginning and as others suggested kept the perches lower at first. I also feed roudybush crumbles and veggies. I follow the advice given on this forum and have asked a 1000 questions so know that this is a great resource. Excited to follow your journey.
