TAILGATING
Hickory was left alone since Cloud had to be euthanized. He’s such a good, social bird that this seemed wrong.
I didn’t want to get more budgies, as 7 is still quite a few & I doubt I’ll ever again have a flock of 10. Time marches on & one must be practical.
I also didn’t want to break up any friendships, so I switched around a few things & Marzipan, Aurelius, Winston, Marigold & Frosting have moved in with Hickory. So far, so good. The only issues seem to originate with the ever spoiled Aurelius & his sidekick Marzipan (I dearly love them both but that’s the truth).
Fortunately, Hickory is holding his own & no one has been hurt or in danger of being so. It helps that Winston is a peacemaker. There was quite a bit of yelling the other day & when I came in Winston was lecturing five contrite looking budgies all lined up on the perch opposite him.
Marigold, who has never had a real buddy, & Winston seem disposed to be Hickory’s friends. Frosting is neutral.
I honestly hope it works out. Hickory is too old to pair with a young sprite who will then be left to mourn him solo. He & Winston are my oldest budgies.
