Hi,
I have a four year old quaker parrot, who likes to chew on my comforter/blankets, shirts, and the sheet I put over his cage at night. I don't have any fabric/cotton toys or perches because I've always been worried about the risk of crop impaction. However I had him out today and he was chewing on my blanket and while he normally spits any pieces out, I didn't see him spit it out and I couldn't get his beak open to remove it. Is there any way to check if he has thread/fabric stuck in his crop? From now on I won't be letting him chew my shirts or blankets and I'm going to stop using the sheet to cover his cage. Thank you all so much. I was also wondering if anyone knows of any good avian vets around western massachusetts? I want to schedule him for a check up, but I can't find any vets that specialize or are board certified in avian veterinary medicine.
