Had to take Elima to the emergency vet this evening after she broke a blood feather on her wing, started bleeding and I couldn't locate the end of the feather. Normally I can handle blood feathers but the most critical thing is to make sure you get all of it out and I couldn't find the end and she would bleed whenever I tried to clean her up so in to the emergency vet we went.
Everything is fine now. She had stopped bleeding by the time I had her boxed up and was in the car on the way to the vet. They also couldn't locate any remaining feather parts (they think she may have dropped the rest at some point while I was running around trying to clean her up) so they cleaned her up and she seems fine but man that sure was scary and expensive. Why do they always do this after regular vet hours?
