Considering adopting a 21-yo male eclectus. I’ve read most of what’s on here and have worked the Google.

Can you recommend any eclectus books or other websites you’ve found helpful?

They are SO incredibly cool, but also different from other parrots. I’ve had other birds 20ish years, but since the ekkies are so different there’s a whole lot I don’t know.

Trying to learn all I can before making a decision, and if yes, before bringing him home.

For an online resource, this is the best website: Eclectus Ark . Laurella Desborough is widely regarded as the top eclectus breeder in the US, and is world renowned as well.

Eclectus diet is extremely important.

Understanding they are a tree top species and rarely come to the ground in their wild habitat, I think knowing about how wild parrots live can be helpful with understanding behavior and diet. I always try and research a species wild cousins, all the info I can find on their natural habitat and behavior.
