All of a sudden my parrots foot started to twitch and this has happened before.. whenever her foot twitches and she touches it a lot it means shes hurt it. But the problem is I don’t know how it happens?! I don’t know how to describe it, it’s like a scrape, its red because of the blood but it never actually bleeds. I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense. She’s also been getting very dry feet recently so the scrapes could be caused by that. Her foot/leg only bothers her for about 10 minutes after that shes fine.

But today her foot twitched and I was like “oh no I bet she has another scrape..” but then when I checked there was nothing there and it seemed like her leg was hurting not her foot, so when I checked her leg all I saw was that she didn’t have scales on part of her leg. I’m not sure if this is normal or not it’s only a bit of her leg but i think maybe that is bothering her? I’m not sure really...

I have a picture of her feet and legs yesterday but it’s not letting me upload it because the file is too large :(

Anyways can anyone help me with this..? Is it normal for feet to go so dry that scales come off? And are the scrapes normal? Has anyone else dealt with this? Also does anyone know how to help dry feet my birdie needs it... :(

Thank you!

I get silversulfadizine cream from my vet, and use it as a every few days cream..it keeps the feeties and legs nice and healthy, also helps with light pressure sores,,or light bumblefoot..as for scales missing, not sure about that,,but do ask your vet.

I find if Burt's feet are looking a little dry that a few showers fixes them up with no worries. I have no idea about the twitching, scrapes, redness and scales missing- I would think a vet trip would be a very good idea to find out what is going on with that.
