..........Millet? Stitch won't touch it. He gets angry at it and throws it. I was wondering if this is unusual for macaws?

I do not offer her millet.
She gets nuts...brazil nuts, walnuts, and almonds.

Yep I don't offer millet to Malachi or the macaws that come into the rescue either. Malachi gets the same stuff :) As well as a lot of fresh.

It may be a good thing that he don't like it. I was just looking for a new reward instead of the same old nuts.

The only one of mine that likes it is the Hahn's. I think it's too small for the big guys...

I don't actually feed millet to any of my birds except in birdy bread and bean/pasta cooked food.

ARe you looking for different treat ideas?
Those baby cookies like Arrowroot are loved by my macaw.
Heck ya my Mac loves these. She likes oatmeal cookies I make for her also. Now sugar, with nuts and dried fruit.

If your looking for a special treat try unsalted Cashews. I bought some the other day just to see if the birds might like them and :omg: Darius my Harlequin would have done back flips I think just to get another one. I usually feed them walnuts, almonds. brazil, pecans, and hazel nuts. sometimes pine nuts and pistachios also. but lie I said I just thought I'd try cashews for a change and see if they liked them. The reaction was priceless. so Darius now has a new favorite treat which is always nice to have when you need to bribe your bird :o:laughing12:

Since Chaz came to live with us last July I have noticed he eats only when he is hungry and the rest graze on and off all day long. Is this normal behaviour for a Macaw?

My macaw is not a big eater. I would say she only eats when she is hungry too.
