Do you know what size rope perch rats need?

So you know this style of perch:
I was wondering what diameter would be good for rats to use, including potentially older, less mobile ones. They come in, I think, 0.5, 1, and 1.25 inch diameters.

I used 7/8" and 1.25" for my boys. They much preferred the 1.25"

I haven't used this type of perch with rats before, but I would assume that thicker is better, especially for older and less mobile rats.

I'd also warn you that this style of perch will probably need to be replaced periodically, because I would assume it will be difficult or even impossible to clean the cotton rope completely and it will get chewed/frayed over time. How long it lasts will depend on your rats, just keep in mind that it probably won't last forever.

On the upside, the rats should have lots of fun with it in the mean time. :)
