It has been hard to share this, except for a few that have heard my sad news.

The day I have dreaded for years finally came last week. Before we departed for my mom's funeral in the East, selfishly, I whispered in Dirk's ear "please hold on until we return" As a loyal and dedicated family member, right until the end, he did

No need for the sad details, but know that my husband, daughter and I held our sweet Dirk as he passed away. He wasn't alone.

There were no regrets, Dirk was always treated like gold, we loved him very much.

After his spirit left, I immediately felt him, I saw him young, bouncing, ears perked and full of life, he was at my feet celebrating his youth He stayed a couple of days but I guess we didn't give him any treats , so he moved on to the Rainbow Bridge.

Our house feels cold, empty, he was like the big hug of the house
