Concerns about baseboard heaters

We just moved to a mountain town this year. We have an old HVAC system that was struggling to keep up in this crazy cold weather we've had. We decided to try the electric baseboard heaters that are in the house. They are giving off a very strong odor. I've tried to look the brand up... Chromalox... To see if there is any PTFE in them but they must be pretty old because I can't find anything. Can anyone tell me if these are safe for my Parrots? I only worry because of the odor. I know their respiratory systems are so very sensitive. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

If they are turning on for the first time in a while, you're likely smelling the dust burning off. Open some windows a crack to ventilate for a bit and then it should go away shortly.
