Yes, he is growing up into a handsome mouser 
I have to catch him soon to check and see how much he weighs now. Just at a glance it appears that captive bred mousers are just a little bigger than wild caughts. When Gryphon was here he was the biggest one in the group.

The newest little one is past bits sized...YAY! It is a chubby little baby. The egg with the X on it is the infertile eggs, and the other egg is good, though not sure of when it will hatch. I have 2 more good eggs in the incubator I still have to soon move to the nest.
I've been checking with other mousebird breeders on the earliest trey've pulled babies to handfeed is 5 days old. If the other eggs hatch, and to have a chance I may have to remove and handfeed the bigger baby. I have 2 WB babies that are getting big and need to be pulled for handfeeding.

The little one is still doing fine. Parents are feeding well. Sometimes they have chubs keeping it warm...LOL. But make Chubbs leave when they are trying to feed it. As you can see Chubbs sneaks back begging, hoping for a handout...LOL

Carole...LOL, and he sure does not look malnourished, does he? And From looking at him with the sticky face and belly feathers he has found his way down to the feed bowl a few times...by himself.

Yes...here he is looking rather grumpy. When he came to the nest begging for food the parents nudged him to the baby and went down to eat, so he has baby duty, which he knows they will be coming back with food for the baby and he will try for some tooGlad they are putting him to work

Do they all have such distinct personalties or is Chubs really really full of personality?
Like most birds each one has a different personality. This little 8 day old is going to be a charactor. He sounds like a little cricket in the incubator calling for food, and if I don't hurry up I now find him/her hanging on the side of the little nest.
He is bad, because I feed him every hour and he will wait about 15 min. and call for a snack and I'll give in and feed him a piece or 2 of fruit with a tweezers.
And Chubbs does the same with the parents. I think part of why his will grumpily do nest sitting is that he knows the parents are coming back with food and he'll get some too as a reward. He needs a sign above the nest: 'Will work for food'

Hmmmm....when talking with you on the phone that Gryphon has got you trained...
he should have a sign that says 'Will accept scritches, and kisses for food'I didn't have my camera at hand this morning when I gave fresh sand. Chubbs was a big mouser and joined in taking a sand bath. It was so funny because there were 2 other mousers in the bowl and he kept watching to see how they were doing it
He has such an expressive face and I could see his confusion on how to do a sand bath.- Status
