The two juvenile Great Horned owls from the nest on the other side of the block are trying out their wings today. That amounts to them being chased around the neighborhood by all the panicked little birds who are "defending" their nests from the owls.
Here's one of them perched at the top of the tree. Note he is still half down feathers...
