So I had a friend and doctor where I work (Vet Specialist & Emergency Hosp.) do her Necropsy.
Firstly because it would be free this way, and secondly because I wanted to know right away as apposed to wait for results from the avian vet. This doctor is very fluent and knowledgeable when it comes to avian practice, and I trust his opinion.
As soon as he was "in" he explained that Chiquitta's liver was swollen. As such, it was putting pressure on her lungs, and causing her to have difficulty breathing. I never heard her weaze, or pant so Im shocked by this. I do recall she would be very out of breath after flying short distances, but I assumed that was out of lack of frequency.
Anyways, he figures its diet related, I guess bad seed can cause liver damage? We didnt bother sending away any samples, he is confident this is what did it.
I tend to agree.....
I didnt tell you all, but Chiquitta actually passed shortly after a flight she made, after being startled by the dog barking. She flew in circles (as she normally does) but for a longer time than normal. When she landed, she literally just dropped, and never woke up. I assumed it was heart failure from fear, but Im satisfied with the results from my Doctor friend.
We had her cremated, and when we get her ashes back we will scatter them under our bird feeder. She loved to watch the sparrows eat!
Thank You all again for your well wishes and happy thoughts in the other thread, they mean alot.
I just thought you would all be curious what the results, as I had concern for Pru.
