1. How did you acquire your bird?
I found Winston on Craigslist. He was about two hours away but I knew that he’d be the perfect friend for my other budgie Oliver.
2. What is your bird's name, species, age and sex?
Winston is a male budgie and he is 4 years old.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
He doesn’t necessarily do any special tricks but he does talk. Sometimes he also flies over and lands on me (only when Oliver is sitting with me though.) He does like to spin his bell toy as well.
4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?
Winston’s favorite food is probably oat groats.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
The funniest thing he has done was probably get really excited when one of his favorite songs came on on the radio.
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
Winston has definitely enriched me and Oliver’s lives. He is a great addition to the family and I love how different his personality is from Oliver’s.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
I would say that if you were thinking of getting a budgie, know that they may not be cuddly or as hands on as you might expect. Each bird has a different and unique personality and they definitely prefer having buddies rather than being solo birds.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
Winston is very active and also can get quite loud. Especially when he wants me to uncover his cage or take him out.
9. What are some of your bird's quirks?
He loves oat groats. I think if I just gave him oat groats he would be content. Also the fact that he’s scared of strawberries. He also loves all his bells!
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
Winston likes to say pretty boy. He says that way more than anything else my birds know how to say. I was surprised that he picked up talking from Oliver because he started talking just a week or so after I introduced him to Oliver.
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Winston’s favorite treats are millet, oat groats, and spinach. He used to like strawberries but not anymore
