the very handsome, NEWMAN
Here is what Danita had to say about her precious baby.
1. How did you aquire your bird?
I had my tiels and told my husband that 'one day' I would like a grey. He made a mistake of saying 'I will get you one for Christmas' Well off I went scouring the ads for one, as soon as I could. I found an ad, "Rare Red Factor Timneh Grey for Sale" I didn't know anything about greys or birds really, but I knew I wanted a RARE Red Factor! His first vet appointment, the vet broke the news to me that he was not a fancy rare bird and there really is no such thing
but he did have red striped legs and tummy for the longest time.2. What is your birds name, age and sex?
Newman Lynne (I name all my animals our daughters middle name
) Male, 6 years old3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
He is very gifted at getting everyone going
He loves dancing, playing chase, playing with balls, flying and music.
4. What are some of your birds favorite foods?
Newman loves watermelon, walnuts, and carrots.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
He loves to swoop in and barely touch the birds heads, and our heads, then fly off! He whole attitude is like the pesky little brother of the house. I think it is funny, the others, not so much
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
Newman is the youngest so I am always trying to find different things for him to do, he needs to get his yayas out, otherwise he plots on how to antagonize the house.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
Be prepared for them to pick up the most annoying noise and them repeat it up to 100 times daily.
Newman is also a wonderful family bird, he doesn't have a chosen person, he loves all of us.8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
Newman is LOUD and he picks up on the energy in our home. If our home becomes hectic, loud and busy, (which is whenever Mr. is home) he mirrors the mood.
9. What are some of your birds quirks?
He loves hugs, and his reflection. He spends hours in our bathroom, it is soothing for him, he has always loved it. He hates to bathe, he bites, he screams
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
Whenever the others get loud and 'scream' as we call it here, he says "Quit that screamin n screamin n screamin, you wanna go upstairs?, quit that screamin and screamin'
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Walnuts and grapes
