It is with great pleasure that I announce the
Celebirdy for the month of March 2023
@Pixiebeak 's Pikachu
1.How did you acquire your bird?
Pikachu is a re-home! A college guy had gotten her and a parrot and college, work, girlfriend, roommates was not compatible. He loved her greatly and provided excellent care. He wanted a top notch home for her , I provided pictures, references and yay, he chose me and gave her to me for free! He was 6 hours away, so we met halfway.
Here she is on the way home
First loves
She is so chill, I call her mellow yellow even took a nap
2. What is your bird's name, species, age and sex?
Pikachu is a female quaker she is 5 years old.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
She recall flys in home. She can let herself out of her cage, and then let's out her quaker palls. But not my GCC, no way.
She loves for me to hold her above my head and drop her down for kisses
4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?
She is a great eater and not fussy, loves pellets of all kinds, all veggies. But taco shells hands down that's our recall treat.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
Let herself out of her cage, go and open Penny's cage, climb in and shut the door behind her , so they can have private cuddling.
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
Pikachu is pure love. She lives to give kisses , millions of kisses! She will make kiss noise in my ear, so I will turn and look at her and she can give me a real kiss. She is the sweetest most mellow girl. She laughs and she loves to make me laugh . I have some very serious health issues , keeping me trapped in my home most times. I simply couldn't manage without my parrots. They bring such joy and love and laughter. Mental stimulation and motivation and connections. There isn't much time to feel down when I feel so blessed and surrounded by so much love
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
QUAKERS ARE PRONE TO SCREAMING AROUND THE CLOCK!!
They are re-homed by the hundreds ( thousands? ) for this. Also prone to becoming pluckers. Its because they are highly intelligent, highly social, and very active species. People who know them compare them to cockatoos in this regard. As a species norm , they will not do well caged all day with working parents and as a solo parrot. There are so many offered for re-homes around me I decided to reach out . Yep its because of the screaming. Im trying to help a few stay in their homes and decrease the screaming. On the postive side, they are amazing Parrots to share your life with in the right set up. They love everyone, they like to cuddle, they are clowns who love humor and pranks. Because they are vocal and social most are going to talk .
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
Very active , busy busy all day long, all are flighted. Love to forage and destroy stuff, and be in the middle of everything!
9. What are some of your bird's quirks?
I asked the previous owner what was Pikachu like? He said she lives to give kisses. That's Pikachu in a nutshell. Kisses are like air for her!
But her special quirk is to grab hold of finger when you are petting her , so you won't stop! Prefers to hold a finger while she takes a nap.
Pikachu has blue eyes! The only quaker I know of who does!! View attachment 423805
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
Pikachu actually only started talking a few months ago! She loves to ask , "Are you a good bird?" Then answer " What a good bird!" Her laughing is my favorite next t to "I love you" ( this isn't very clear yet more mumble)
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Kisses! Then taco shells
