It is with great pleasure that I announce the
Celebirdy for the month of July 2024

@SumitaSinh 's Pestaa

1. How did you acquire your bird?
1.I got my Orange-wing amazon in 2020 and I was going through few articles regarding the species. Only then I came to know about hahns macaw, these two species can make mixed flock. I started reading more about hahns and soon, the smallest macaw became my obsession. Hahns are not very common in my place. But I kept searching. After three long years, I found my dream bird in a bird show. The owner had various fascinating birds and he handed over a hahns to me.

2. What is your bird's name, species, age and sex?
2. Pestaa is a male hahns macaw, around 4-5 years old. His previous owner could not tell me specifically, but Pestaa is bred in captivity. He's a problem child as he snips off his tail and wing primaries.

3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
3. Pestaa doesn't perform any tricks. He's not friendly to any human. But I can understand his attitude. He is a KING! How can he perform tricks !!

4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?
4. Pestaa is a seed junkie. I could not change his attitude to pellets. So I give him seed sprouts. He loves corn also.

5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
5. Pestaa likes bath. Usually he gets missed. One day, suddenly he climbed down from his perch and started taking bath in his water bowl. I gave him a shallow bowl. He examined it very carefully, then dipped his beak in it. Then he took bath in that water. It was so funny, his feathers were even not wet properly. I clicked a video of that bath.

6. How has your bird enriched your life?
6. Pestaa is haughty, stand- offish; he doesn't talk a lot; he doesn't perform any tricks. He's a plucker. I am trying to resolve his anxiety issues. And that's what which enriched my life. It's so fascinating to find out a helpless baby beneath this haughty attitude. When he first took food from my hands, that made my day. When he comes out of his cage eagerly and tries to preen Inca, that's the sweetest thing. I'm waiting to see the glimps of excitement in his eyes.

7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
7. The hahns are most intelligent parrots I've met. They can have so much of attitude! And they have the royal bearings of a macaw!

8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
8. Pestaa can be loud, especially when his cage is separated from inca's. But his noise level is much lesser than my OWA.

9. What are some of your bird's quirks?
9. I didn't anticipated the haughty attitude of my hahns. But he can be cold and standoffish. Sometimes it really hurts me. But I accepted this as his personality. If he ever accepts me a his friend, that will be my biggest reward.

10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
10. Pestaa is not a talker. So when one evening, he called my son by his name, we all were surprised. Then we burst out laughing, it's soooo cute.

11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
11. His favorite treat is a slice of banana or mango. I try to avoid sugary food. Recently he's earning his treat when he decides to step up on a hand held perch. But then immediately he gets down from the perch, the brat!!
At the end, I would like to thank you all for reading this long post. When I came to know my tailless, duck butt boy has been chosen for this award, I cried out in joy!! Please shower him with your blessings.

The last one is taken in January, when he developed a beautiful new tail. He tore it within fifteen days.

Yesterday evening, Pestaa was preening Inca. He stopped the moment I picked up my phone:laugh:.
@Clueless, can you see the size difference?

that was my question too, how much difference between them.
Never realized they were that small or maybe the zons are that big! :think1:

My zon is not that big, but hahns are really small. With all the characteristic of big macs.

:Congratwav: birds are so emotional way more than you can tell just looking at them. My Madberry is a broken pair too and I too enjoy the little moments of trust I get from them. I also didn't know how small Macaw could get.

Was remembering you. We haven't seen your flock for long time.
