Celebirdy of the Month - July 2023 - Cheddar

It is with great pleasure that I announce the
Celebirdy for the month of July 2023

@Mark & Da Boyz 's Cheddar​

1. How did you acquire your bird?

I got Cheddar through a local pet store in Ohio when I lived there named Sugarcreek Bird Farm, A place I still miss. I wanted a Green Cheek Conure and they had a few still available and Cheddar was my choice.

2. What is your bird's name, species, age and sex?

Cheddar was DNAed as male and his hatch date was 5/2/2018 so he's just over 5 years old now.

3. Does your bird do any special tricks?

He's not really a trick doing fella nor is he food driven like B.B. is so training him would be a pain.

4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?

He likes Popcorn but he’s not a Food Hound.

5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?

He like hanging out and I mean hanging from things upside down. (see the photo)

6. How has your bird enriched your life?

He likes to snuggle sometimes and climb in my shirt and sit on my shoulder. But just being Cheddar is enough to me.

7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?

GCC can be fun BUT can be loud and nippy at times. All Conures seem to do this a degree though. They are “People Birds” and demand to be included in everything.

8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?

Like most Conures he's GO GO GO with short breaks in between. All Conures can be loud...very loud at times so be ready for it.

9. What are some of your bird's quirks?

Tissues are to be destroyed to sight! Computer Mice and trackballs are to me attacked as are the fingers messing with them.

10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?

He does talk, not that I made a try at teaching him, he picked up on his own. His favorite saying are "Just a minute" " Come here" "Step Up" “Be Right Back” and calling B.B. (his "brother").

11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?

Pop Corn seems to be the only treat he gets cranked up for.
