Marlene
Welcome to the neighborhood!
It is with great honor that I announce the Celebirdy for the month of January, 2010. Bonnie's (ncGreyBirdLady) special girl, Gemini.
Here is Miss Bonnie's interview.
1. How did you aquire your bird?
Gemini was bought from a very unscrupulous breeder out of Florida .She was supposed to have been 5/6 weeks old when She was shipped-turns out, she was only 10 days old when I got her.
2. What is your birds name, species, age and sex?
Her name is Gemini-other wise known as “The Grand Madame” She is a Congo African Grey Parrot,19 years old and I think a female-though, she has not been sexed.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
Ha-Ha that is a funny question , being as how Gemini is “Special” almost everything she does is a Trick. She learned at a very young age how to wrap mommy around every one of her talons (LOL)
4. What are some of your birds favorite foods?
Gemini will eat just about anything-but her favorite thing is PB&J on a good low sodium whole grain bread.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
Lord-there are SO many-but the one I will share here(LOL) is when a now XBF walked past her cage and “Broke Wind” Gemini fell off her perch and let out a huge” Whewwwwwwww”
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
Gemini has enriched my life with her will to live and being as normal as she can be. Every day I thank the Lord for another day with Gemini in My life. Her and I have been through a great deal together and she still amazes me!
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
I’m just a wee bit partial to Greys. Greys are not for everyone, but if some one were to have a Grey grace their lives-I do not believe they would be disappointed! Do some research about them, but then understand that each and every bird is different-and THEY did NOT read the books.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
Gemini is a very active and vocal bird. She is always playing with her bell and she is almost always talking, singing, or just making happy sounds!
9. What are some of your birds quirks?
Gemini really doesn’t have anything that I would call a quirk!
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
This is not really surprising ,but it is her sentence that I hold dearest to my heart. When Gemini was a wee baby, and I slept with her on my chest(because she was so sick with E-coli) I would say over and over that she was “ mommie's sweet baby grey”(I’m tearing up here remembering) Anyway-when she was but a few months old-Gemini said-very clearly “mommie's sweet baby grey”. She still says it several times a day-and I answer with “Yes you are”.
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Gemini’s all time favorite treat is tropical fruit nutriberries.
