"Many thanks. Herewith the answers:
1. How did you acquire your bird? - Alex was given up for sale at the age of 11 months. He was sold to a pet store in a town about an hours drive from where I live.
2. What is your bird's name, age and sex? - Alex / five and a bit years old and DNA sexed as male
3. Does your bird do any special tricks? - Not really tricks as such, but Alex will let me know when he wants to get down from a tall tree in the park and waits for me to hold up one of the long sticks I use, before jumping onto it.
4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods? - All types of shelled nuts, especially pistachios.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done? Not really funny as such, but Alex introduces himself to people we meet by telling them - "My name is Alex"
6. How has your bird enriched your life? - I am not married and do not have any children. Alex is in many ways, my son. We spend between 4 and 6 hours a day together and have never missed his daily outing / s to his favorate park. Alex continues to show me that the world can be filled with wonder.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species? - Think very, very carefully about the ongoing responsibility. Think of the very long term commitment and be sure you have the available time and finances available.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird? - Alex is quite loud and constantly active.
9. What are some of your bird's quirks? - Alex likes to sit on the shower door in the steam before going to bed at night and looks for his fruit juice before bed as well. He loves to perch on my wrist and "steer" me to whever he wants to go when outdoors and always greets everyone, including dogs we pass.
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it hassaid? - Alex is people parrot.
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat? Pistachio nuts.
