Celebirdy for the month of April 2023

1. How did you acquire your bird?
A Petstore before I knew of the conditions there.
2. What is your bird's name, species, age and sex?
Spearmint, (legally registered as Sir Spearmint), is a male green cheek conure, he's two!
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
If it counts, he moves his head back and forth with me like he's dancing, and then stops, stares, and screams.
He also learnt how to give kisses, but it's more like a bite on the nose and clicking his tongue.
4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?
Sugar snap peas, blueberries and steamed cauliflower.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
I was trying to drink a glass of water, and he jumped onto my head, slid down onto my noise, and took a bath in the water as I was drinking it. He then followed it up with biting and hitting the glass.
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
He's given me a reason to not only get up in the morning, but also encourages me to spend all my savings on him. He's helped me through some seriously tough times though
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
Research! They're so much more work than what most say, and they act bigger than they are, like little angry dinosaurs. They're amazing though, super fun, and interesting, and definitely a lifetime friend.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
He's super energetic for the first 45 minutes he's out, but then he gets tired and needs a little 2 min nap before running around again
. His noise level depends on the time, 9am-3pm he's usually quiet, and then he gets loud around the afternoon.
9. What are some of your bird's quirks?
He LOVES water and baths! He's bathed in my cup before while i'm drinking, and gets super excited when the tap comes on. Even if he's not bathing, he just loves hearing and watching water. Also, he's got 4 eyelashes, they make him look really cute.
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
He looked me dead in the eyes, moved his head quickly forward, said "Hello birdie" and then screamed at me. The words weren't unusual, it was the tone. He sounded possessed! This was also very late at night in his dark cage.
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Air-popped popcorn and cuddles!
