Hi, I could use some advice with one of my linnies.
For some context, I have a mixed flock of about 30 birds. I've built an aviary (13' x 3' x 8') just outside my bedroom with access through a window so I can bring them in at night or if the weather is bad. Everyone gets along during the day but I have 3 different cages for them to sleep in so there's no fighting at bedtime.
I have 3 male linnies that all love burrowing under blankets, clothing, my hair, or whatever is laying around that they can snuggle under.
My older two, Smuckers and Piplup, are bonded to each other and will sleep in their cage together (or often, on top of the cage and under the cage cover). Not a problem.
But my 3rd linnie, Ramune, is very much bonded to me and lately wants to sleep on my bed and under the blankets. Up until recently, he had made a spot on top of the finches' cage where there's a "cubby" he can snuggle into (it's hard to describe so I have a picture - I put soft cloth on the bottom and the perch stand on top for a "roof"). But for whatever reason, he decided that his old spot is no longer comfy enough and prefers to be "squished" under the weight of my comforter.
I have to move him into the cage with the other 2 so I don't squish him; during the day they all get along fabulously but they tend to bicker at night. However, they'll eventually sort themselves out and sleep peacefully together.
Has anyone else had to deal with something like this? How/where do your linnies like to sleep?
I'd like to make some kind of "weighted blanket corner" or something in his cage for him to snuggle into and am wondering if any of y'all have done something similar.
I would appreciate any advice
