My budgies for the most part are wild (except for Sol). They step up for me, and know when I point to the cage and say "go back" that they are to fly into their cage.

I can never be the one to instigate any personal interactions. It has to be them.

They will go through days where they will keep to themselves and ignore me. They much prefer each other and their toys to me.

But there are those times when they become really fascinated by me. They fly to me, and preen me. They will sit fluffed up on my shoulder, and will play with my hair or jewelry.

I LIVE for these moments.

Today, for some reason, Clyde, my male green budgie decided he wanted to be friends with me.

Clyde is a very skittish male. He is a follower, not a leader. He will usually fly to me only if he sees one of the girls on me.

But today, he fly to me all on his own. He sat all fluffed up and clicking his beak.

Just thought I'd share :)

I've had a similar "wow" moment with a skittish male cockatiel before! :) Love it when they decide to do something on their own!

Of course, having millet also helps! :roflmao:

I know where you are coming from with this. Clyde felt comfortable today and decided to tell you. Good work!
Now will you teach my female Daisy? Like your signature.

The trick is to have at least one budgie that likes people. If they see another bird on you, they get jealous and want to check things out too!

And thanks :)

My budgies,Sky, Nimbus, and Marley, are known not to come out of their cage. They come out about twice a year on their own-and when they come out is also up to them, even though we leave their cage door open every day.
The last time they came out was the day after dear Anne passed. They all came out and flew around the room for about an hour, then went back into their cage on their own.
I know Anne was looking in on them that day...
