Good guess, Matt. I was thinking of the large rodent species that is semi-aquatic but the name had escaped me. Nutria, that was it.It could also be a nutria. They have been seen in NJ.

Whatever it may be it's certainly not in its natural state and must have some kind of disease to be hairless. Much like 'chupacabras' are wild canids and hairless from some illness.nutria are a little larger and have different hind feet/legs and are normally hairy
