I spent the past week visiting Steve up north, and one of the places we went to was Bird World at Kuranda. :D It's a large walk in aviary with a ton of different parrots and other birds. Needless to say, i took lots and lots and lots of photos!! Here are some of my favourites.

This tawny frogmouth was part of the welcome crew to the aviary, hehe, soooo cute!!

A cuddly sulfer crested cocky

Once inside the aviary the sun conures made themselves known.

And while i was befriending the little conures Steve was making a big friend.

I wasn't quite as comfortable with the big guy, hehe.

Back with Steve, and the little conures thought they were tough enough to take on the B&G!!

This scarlet wasn't so hands on, but very pretty and happy to take an almond from me.

I found myself a little friend i was more comfortable with.

A handsome ekkie boy

And another handsome ekkie boy...

He was very friendly!

If only we knew how friendly....

We seriously couldn't get rid of him until we got down to these guys...

He flew off when we got to the cassowary enclosure, hehehe!

Some lorikeets free loading off the swans food

A rather unusual bird! :D

A pair of lori's

There's just something about Steve....this bird wanted to get it on with him too, lmao!

A BFA

A little lovie gathering some nesting material, his beak suggests he lost a fight with a big bird at some point.

A cute pair of jendays

And one last pic, a sun conure pair. :D

Steve got some great photos which i'm sure he'll share too. It was a great place to spend a morning!! :laughing12:

If anyone would care to enlighten us as to why the overly friendly ekkie boy might have yellow feathers that'd be great! :D Steve thought it might be dietary or something? He looked very healthy, beautiful glossy feathers.

Absolutely gorgeous photos!!!

I am definitely putting Bird World on my list of places to visit! If you don't mind me asking, how much was the entrance price?

I think the yellow feathers on the Ekkie is dietary related. We have the same problem with the Ekkies at the sanctuary. They live in a massive free flight aviary with other species and as a result it is very difficult to control their diet. They will often steal pellets meant for the Cockatoos and seed meant for the Finches.

great photos. thats someplace i want to go to.as for the yellow spotted ekkie it could be dietary.i have a friend over in england who hatched out 2 ekkie babies 1 is a chimera the other is a normal female . the chimera is a dna female but has a green back but the red head and chest like a female. its a very pretty bird with its markings.
looks like the ekkie fell in love with steve lol

Wow, $16 is super cheap compared to the attraction prices on the Gold Coast! Yay! Now I might even have enough money to pay for a flight over there. :D
