Big Scooter hurt his keelbone (Graphic Pics)

He lets me touch it. I used cornstarch, and the vet said to apply the healX soother. He has eaten a pistachio since but hesitantly. Keeps wanting to pick at the wound but the ointment is making him not do it. Is sitting in the greyhouse with leg curled up and beak grinding. Vet said just keep an eye. From what I told her she said it's not cracked. Anyone have an idea for what he would be acting like if his keelbone was broken?
He has whistled a couple of times too while i was putting on the ointment.
how to keep him from picking if he does start?
ps he fell off in a panic when Chickie screamed to take off.

vet didn't relay that info to me. She's also a very leave well enough alone type. He's chewing a willow coin right now and now he's beating up on his phone and climbing around (4 feet)

That looks bad. I think I would take him in. You don't want to take the chance of it getting infected. Shouldn't he be on an antibiotic with an open wound like that? I don't see how she could just say it wasn't broken without even looking at it.

OK, the skin has split...personally and from my own experience with wounds on the breast in two of my birds,...I would put Cayenne on that...I have done this to "D" who is a self mutilator on his breast area and it heals so much faster!!! and no infection EVER....by any chance do you have or can make a "vest" to put over this?

That looks awful much worse then when Duncan's keel bone punctured through. He had to have stitches twice. He also went about his business like nothing happened, as I was freaking out.

Are you keeping him in a hospital cage with heat?

Is your doctor going to put him on antibiotics?

Looking at his picture makes me want to cry.

well i am on the phone with the techs who are looking at the pics i sent. Vet is with a client right now. BScoot is killing 25 caterpillars at the moment.
My gut tells me to leave him be. Will see what the vet thinks when she gets free.
