Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum but not to bird ownership, my Quaker Narcissa is 16 years old and I've owned her since she was about 2 months old. I use to work in an exotic bird store so I'm fairly knowledgeable about birds, however, it's been 16 years since I had to buy a cage and my preferred brand, Avian Adventures, sold their designs and then Midwest discontinued the line within the last 2 years. I knew the original owner of Avian Adventures, as she was friends with the bird store owner, and I was lucky enough to get an Original Avian Adventures Grande Playtop for my Umbrella Cockatoo. Now that I am looking for a new cage for my Quaker I am not loving the cages I'm finding, I would love something similar to the AA Nina Playtop but non seem safe or good in quality. What are your suggestions for a good quality cage for my girl? Also sites you buy from for cages or toys would also be helpful. Thank you ALL in advance for your help!

Welcome to the forum!

My last cage purchase was just at the beginning of supply chain issues and it was stressful - I ended up just buying a copy of what I had before since there already weren't many options, and that was a few years ago.

I have both A&E and Prevue cages and I've been happy with the quality of both.

I have A&E playtop cages for my Quaker and ringneck, 23" x 32" (I think its the medium). I think I bought them from Chewy and Wayfair or maybe Petco online - wherever was cheapest and available in white at the time.

I have a new elderly cockatiel in a smaller 24" x 24" Prevue cage that I normally use to take them outside, and a Prevue travel cage for vet trips.

My Quaker's cage is almost too small for him and how busy he is during the day. I couldn't find any bigger cages with 1/2"-5/8" bar spacing in my price range at the time. Now I kinda wish I would've gotten an exotic nutrition Borneo cage even though I prefer white/light color cages.

I've found both A&E and Prevue cages are easy to find accessories for, like extra bowls. The wheel casters are nice quality. I prefer the full size door that my A&E cages have (so much easier for cleaning).

Quality products made from metal are having supply chain issues so I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't full availability for good cages :( I'm in a city so Facebook marketplace is usually a good place to find cages. I suspect quality overall has gone down over the last decade, like a lot of manufactured goods. My cockatiel came with his original cage from 25 years ago and it's in perfect shape, excellent welds with no bumps and perfectly smooth bottom tray with no pitting or rust. I was impressed.

Hi!! Can't wait to see pictures of your quaker!!!!
I love the big square type cages in white ! The gist too let's me out acrylic on top so I can put in top of cage perches and use that vertical wasted space above the cage with all kinds of hanging spiral ropes, swings ECT ! I think they get so much use from that over a post top! Then I can use the first top to set out food birks sbd veggies and Bsth bowl . Non of pops s d cross gall inti cage and easy to wipe off acrylic. Which I got at home Depot and was available in perfect size to cut tops already pre cut !!

I have 2 Brisbane and two other if unknown type . They are so perfect! Tho After 8 years I'm seeing some ware on a couple . Non have name on them so I not sure which have aged .
