Cutest Bird Ever!!!
5 years ago today, you came to your forever home. You were neglected, abused, underweight, malnourished and in the dirtiest, nastiest cage I have ever seen in my lifetime. You were bitey, with a huge basketcase of baggage that you carried with you.
Yup ,you chopped me good, just trying to set up your cage for quarantine. You didn't like new dishes that were clean, tossing them to floor like crackers. You wouldn't eat good for you foods and clean water. You were mad at the whole world.
Yup those days are gone, forever.
You now allow tender moments of gentle head scritches. You learn alot about eating healthy that you now are squawking at sunrise "Where's my breakfast, lady???" You come out of your cage with freewill and will go back with gentle reminder of "cage up, all the way" at bedtime. You have got your weight to a normal range, your feathers are sleek and glossy instead frayed and frazzled. Yes I know that hands are not your favorite things but we have worked so hard to get to this point and I am super proud of your progress. You have learned to love and be loved. And its one day at a time, everyday. You have met every challenge and succeeded in your own way.
There are new challenges coming for both of us, as we move into new apt the end of May. We will work together one step at a time, with love, compassion, patience and understanding. You are my little Bebe bubbas. I love you my little dude.
Please excuse the mess around the cage. Getting things out to the dumpster has been huge challenge for me since I threw out my back. It's one trip down and up for me daily. I take what I can and pray I don't fall again.
