bar spacing for blue crown conure?

I have a spare cage that someone might want to use for a blue crown conure. But the space between the bars is 7/8 inch.
I'm afraid this might be too big. 5/8 is probably better I know, but I am wondering if the 7/8 could be used safely?

The larger conures can be fine with bar spacing up to 1". My mitred conure had a macaw cage (40x30) with 1" or just under bar spacing, and he could only fit his beak through. That said, I still chose to downsize as he was rubbing the feathers off between his eyes and beak.

I know someone (actually, two people) who keeps a sun conure in a macaw cage (larger than the one I had - double macaw cage, if I recall right?) without any problems.


So, the cage with 7/8" bar spacing may be fine. I wont guarantee that there wont be any problems as it is usually best to go with the recommended size.

MY blue crown conures were in 3/4 inch spaced cages before they went cage free.... not sure if I would go wider or not? I would have to see them in it I guess...I think the one inch would definitely be too large.

yep Marian, Will is a blue crown conure.
Anna and I plan to do the drive next week unless we get a bad snow.
