OK....well, Dr LaBonde said his skin looks good, his heart & lungs sound good, his wieght is good. He took blood for a CBC panel, and took some poop for a fecal.
He said if all his counts come back good, then it could be hormonal or anxiety, or both. He said he's not plucking out the feathers, but he's breaking them off at the skin....barbering....He said that since he's breaking them off, there won't be any new blood feathers until his next molt, and the new feathers will push the old shafts out.
I told him about his diet, and he said it all sounds good. He doesn't think it's an alergy, because Pita doesn't seem "all itchy". He asked about his cage & toys, and well, you guys know Pita is not being denied toys. He did suggest changing his cage around, and maybe putting more foraging & shredding things in.
I asked him about metal toxicity, lead & zinc & Giardia. He didn't think there was any reason to test for those at this point. He said the Giardia, would show up in the fecal as it's a parasite. So he said to hold off for now, unless he thinks something doesn't look right.
Here is what he looks like right now (he just had a bath & a Cherrio)
He said if it gets worse...example: bare skin, or picking lower on his belly, to call him.
Part of the test results will be ready today, and the rest a couple days. But all in all he said not to worry about him, he seems perfectly healthy.
Now I have to work on my stress, and wait for the test results. I'll post more when I get the results in.
