Please pass this along to any of your contacts in B.C. and across Canada.

Thank you
Doris

I have a list of TWELVE birds that were stolen overnight from a home in South Surrey, B.C. – close to 168th Street/32nd Ave in S. Surrey. Owners were in the middle of moving and the birds were taken, cages and all from the house. I will list each one individually, but here is a brief listing. Please be on the lookout for these birds! I apologize for duplicate e-mails as I have tried to copy as many people as possible on this.

  • <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">B&G Macaw (male) – Banded – “Peanut” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Bare-Eyed Cockatoo – no band - “Bijou” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Umbrella Cockatoo (male)– no band “Kona” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Umbrella Cockatoo (female) – not sure of band – “Casey” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Medium Sulfur Crested Cockatoo – broken wing with pin – no band – “Sidney” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Lilac Crowned Amazon – crippled right foot - “Oscar” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Alexandrine (male) – not banded – “Bobby” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Alexandrine (female) – no band – “Sammy” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Indian Ring Neck – male (green) – banded - “Homer” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Indian Ring Neck – male (green) – not sure of band – “Jake” <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1">Indian Ring Neck – female (green) – not sure of band – “Scarlet”
  • Indian Ring Neck – female (green) – banded – “Millie”

PLEASE be on the lookout for any of these birds that you may see in stores, on the street, etc. Someone probably is looking to turn them over quickly for cash.

Contacts:
Owners are Russ or Cheryl – (778) 789-0336 or (778) 318-9315 – no internet at this time as everything was stolen.
You can also contact me, Audrey Wilsenack at (604) 856-0518 or (604) 506-2600 or e-mail wilsenack@shaw.ca .

If you can think of anyone who could help keeping an eye out for these birds, please copy them on this e-mail.

:( Those poor babies and their owners. This is one of my biggest fears about moving from a 3rd floor condo into a house....they're much safer up here from prying eyes.

It gets me so mad when people steal birds, why do it to someone, why be so nasty. I hope they’re found and returned safe & sound..

ETA: I have a friend in Canada, she isn’t a bird person, but I’ll ask her to keep an eye out.

This sort of thing makes me worry about our birds...our sunroom faces the street.
Despite the fact we're in a very small town and not much goes on here (low crime area) - drugs are everywhere.
It's very sad that we have to worry about this type of thing.
What a crazy world we live in!

That's awful. I wish people would realize that birds are NOT property, but family members. I think they'd think twice before kidnapping a child. Why should a pet be different?

This kind of thing seems to be on the rise, sadly. It takes much to move me to violence, but if anyone dared tried to snatch any of ours, I'd pity the poor soul who ever met my wrath.

I hope these poor people recover each and everyone one of their feathered babies safe and sound and that the dastardly cowards who snatched them have the book thrown at them. And by that, I mean some serious jail time along with hefty fines. I hope with all my heart no harm is done to these birds. My thoughts are with these people. I can only imagine the unending nightmare this must feel like to them. How awful, truly awful.....shame, shame, shame.

You can get money for birds, whereas for a child, you can't. It's a very low thing to do though.

It IS so scary...I also live in a small town and always considered it very safe...but crime happens everywhere especially in this bad economy....a house across the street a few doors down was broken into last year....at 3 in the morning and the woman was assaulted by him. Luckily she got through to 911 and put up a good fight. THey eventually did get the guy, thank God.

It was after that that I really became more diligent and also got an alarm system.
