This forum is for advice about initial treatment given to your injured/sick bird until a qualified avian veterinarian is available. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO REPLACE VET CARE
I took out her toys from the cage with pokey things (her shredding blocks and foraging stuff) and she's comfortably sleeping on her stick. I am leaving Marley out, he tends to groom her eye rings and I don't want to irritate it more.
Snapped a photo of her at work, she wasn't too thrilled to have bright light AND a camera in her face
Poor Skittles That looks so uncomfortable. It does look like conjunctivitis to me. Hopefully you can get her to your vet on Monday and get her some antibiotics!
What is he? A blind idiot???!!! I'm mad all over again. I would most certainly find out who's in charge of that emergency clinic and send your photo over of your obviously sick little girl and ask for a friggen refund. Why is he even practicing? She needs to get to a real vet ASAP. I would put warm compresses on that eye with sterile water until you can get her in.
OMG how could the vet say it is not swollen? Obviously the poor baby is not feeling well and yes, the eye is not normal I hope she feels better soon....
It is so obviously swollen. Sorry that you both had such an unpleasant experience at the ER Vet. Let us see another photo tomorrow. She will start to respond to the medication by then.
I hope Skittles feels better soon. Ug, I feel your pain about emergency vets, I used to have 5 ferrets and had to venture over to the ER vet in the wee hours of the morning twice. They knew absolutely nothing about ferrets and charged me hundreds of dollars (Xrays etc). One trip cost me a bundle and the following day at our normal experienced ferret vet it turned out to be just gas pain
Definite improvement from yesterday! I am so happy for both of you. It was something she must have gotten when she used her little foot to scratch her head and caught her eye. Glad the medicine worked and all be be well for the weekend and beyond.
I almost threw up when I saw how big of an improvement it was from yesterday.. I've been lacking so much sleep because I've been worrying... Now I know how EVERYONE feels when their birds are ill or injured..
