Do the Old/New World rules apply to pigeons? If so, which are they?
Haha I was going to say that! This is what Ms. Google tells me:
Pigeons (Columbiformes) are the sister group to an Old World clade consisting of sandgrouse (Pterocliformes) and the mesites (Mesitornithiformes).
This page has some interesting information:
Pigeon | Bird of Prey, Flight & Migration Patterns
Pigeon, any of several hundred species of birds constituting the family Columbidae (order Columbiformes). Smaller forms are usually called doves, larger forms pigeons. An exception is the white domestic pigeon, the symbol known as the “dove of peace.” Pigeons occur worldwide except in the coldestwww.britannica.com
Woah; gibberish!Pigeons (Columbiformes) are the sister group to an Old World clade consisting of sandgrouse (Pterocliformes) and the mesites (Mesitornithiformes).
Yes.... I used to live in a city with literal millions if not billions of pigeons, so I know what you mean.We have multiple wild pigeons here, and while I don't know if they are super dusty or not, they are very messy!!!
