Immediately on switching on a dense mist started pouring out, i was startled 
It's got various user friendly settings...
Practically No Odor
Slight new plastic smell which i am confident will dissipate over time.
I'm using distilled water
So so far i like it a lot.
Oh and the glug glugs are very muted as it is heavy duty plastic.
Mist is cool so no worries about birds flying around like with my current steam humidifier.
The allergy club lady told me to come back in the summer to get a super-quiet dehumidifier
