I woke up today and my parrotlet was very sleepy and doesn't care if I move her. She is definitely not her normal sassy self! I got her as a rescue and she is said to be 13 years old but is very cared for now. She is breathing quick and short and also has not eaten or drank anything today, I tried to give her some apple sauce but she refused. The vet is about 2 hours and I don't even know if I could get in, I fret a car ride would stress her out too. I want her to be relaxed as possible, how do I know if she is actively dying of a tough life (honestly she has lived much longer than I expected)? I have been trying to comfort and hold her all morning, but not sure what to do.

With the symptoms you're describing, I would be keeping her warm on my way to the vet with or without an appointment.

There's only two options here that I see.

Make her comfortable and hope for the best, knowing you may lose her.

Get her to the vet and see what they can do for her.
:agreed:

Here’s the thing about her being stressed. She’s already stressed. So, how are you going to feel if you do/ don’t go to the vet?
I’m not being mean; sometimes they’re too far gone by the time we figure it out, and you make a choice to stay home/keep them comfortable. Other times you’re desperate for any help at all. Keep us posted.

I have taken time away from the computer today as I am very sad to report that she passed away shortly thereafter my post. I felt in my heart it was simply her time to go and I continued to stay with her through her last breaths. I miss her so much, rest in peace baby!
