My sweet black cat Nitto is not doing well. He's with me 16 years this month and showed up after a hurricane in FL meowing at our door. I took him to the Vet today after a few days of not wanting to eat after throwing up a day or two earlier. Same month, I lost my old Girl Abby.

Results of the blood show bilirubin, he's slightly jaundice and liver is more than likely failing.

He's home, after getting fluids. Palliative care, fluids and an appetite stimulant. Hoping for a recovery, but not likely being his age min of 17 years or just shy of 17.

If you can hold him and I in your thoughts, I would so appreciate it. You know when your beloved pets age, it's expected. But even so, when the time comes as prepared we think we are we are not.

I am okay with this, I have to be. I know if and when to do what I have to do.

:(

It's never the right time

17 years is a life well lived and loved.
Many animals are not so fortunate.
I understand that this is a difficult time.
It's hard to let go.

It’s never easy, and we’re never really ready. I hope you’re able to have more time with him.

Thank you all. He's such a really nice cat, always sweet, and one who looks you in the eyes.

I have been feeding him small amounts. He's not wanting it, but he's getting it. It's a day by day, until no more.
