Hi everyone, I really appreciate all of the care and wishes.
Unfortunately, Val passed away here at home with me.
She was being seen by the head avian veterinarian and surgeon of the LA zoo and was receiving a great deal of treatment so we know we were giving her the best chance we could.
There was nothing outstanding regarding her care, husbandry, or environment that could have caused this and he was optimistic based on her response to treatment.
We had her stable and interactive up until the very end.
Things happen so fast with birds and their bodies can only handle so much.
She will be taken to UC Davis for an intensive necropsy and extensive testing to hopefully shed some light on what possibly happened so I, and others, can perhaps learn something and procure valuable, and ideally preventative, insight.
We packed a lot into our years together exploring and traveling all around the country as best mates.
It was a vibrant life well lived.
