Hello
I have a 6 month old cockatiel not sure gender going thru first molt. Rescued from a friend who got him/her from a back yard breeder and never fixed splayed leg.
My question is.. is it to late to fix it?
Also what do you think re sex and is it a Dominant Grey?

can use leg and toes and the other day tucked let in. Can perch a bit.
TIA

Welcome to the Avenue :)

It may not be able to be corrected 100%, but I would still have a go at trying to make it better. You will need to tape the legs in position so they are straight, depending how bad they are, you may need to do this is stages, getting closer each time you tape the legs until parallel.

If you struggle with taping the bird, you will need a vet check up anyway as this is a new bird to your home, so you could ask your vet to do it while there and save yourself a visit.

Here is some info (though it was written really for the younger chicks, there´s still useful tips there on how to tape etc.), just keep in mind, your bird may put up a wriggle while you try and do this as they are older and will have more strength;
