Just when it all seems to be going pretty well, life throws a curveball. I found Zoey dead at the bottom of the cage tonight. I had just spent the afternoon just sitting in the bird room. Watching a movie and hanging out with the birds. Even gave Zoey scritches. She loved them. Nothing seemed unusual that I could tell. All the other birds seem fine so I don't think it was anything in the air or anything like that.
I found her when I went in to clean up for the night. There was lot of blood that had come out of her mouth and nares. My husband and I think she had some kind of cardiac attack. It happened quickly we think. I'm sad I wasn't there when it happened but thankful at the same time. I'm pretty sure it would have been horrible not to be able to do anything for her. I feel pretty numb right now.
She was at least 14 or 15 years old. I was her second and final home. I did the best I could. Such a sweet girl. A good eater and loved scritches. I will miss her sweet face and soft feathers.
