This morning Doby's crop still lookd half full. It worried me because he doesn't have feathers and I can tell every morning that it is empty. He ate great last night. The only thing different was I gave him Sunshine Factor at dinner. He is lethargic today. Didn't enjoy his shower (tried to get away from the water). He ate just a little mellon and berries and left the rest of breakfast. His crop still looks half full and I am not giving him anything till I see if it reduces. If it doesn't, I don't think I should wait to take him to the vet....do you?

One thing you can do is smell his breath. If it smells bad then he probably has a crop infection - then it is right to the Vet. ASAP

He smells fine so far. My husband is panicing because he thinks he chewed and swollowed the chewy vind ball we placed on his stand. I am trying not to let that bother me, after all...don't birds in the wild chew vines and trees etc

Keep a close eye on him and if you are questioning his condition then definitely take him to the vet. Hope he will feel better soon.

We're not dealing with birds in the wild though. Birds in the wild don't pluck their feathers, but we have lots of birds in captivity that do. If its possible that that's what happened, I'd definitely take him in.

Yes, but if he swallowed too much or if it was treated, he could become impacted or anything on the vine could have amde him ill.

Don't guess - go to the vet.

If I don't see a change in his crop or lethargy I will go for sure. If may be they have nothing to do with one another. His crop may be one issue and the way he is acting may be related to him trying to get a little frisky with me the last few days and feeling rejected

There is no smell. I think I will wait until I get the one I ordered and pitch the sample one from the vets office

He is moving around a little more. His crop is down a little although lopsided. He is pooping which means he is digesting whatever he ate this morning. Eclectus usualy don't drink a lot of water and since he didn't eat well this morning and was not drinking out of his cup I let him drink a little out of my hand. He seems to have more energy..because I put him on my desk and laid a paper bag next to him and he seems to be enjoying demolishing it. Who knows whats going on. The vet is at lunch and is sipposed to call me when he gets back. Is it possible that he had some blockage that is working its way out?

You could try some thinned down applesauce or thinned formula with a couple drops of Bragg's apple cider vinegar in it. That should help things move.

The vet has not called yet. Doby seems to be feeling better and his crop has reduced. I was not going to feed him till I spoke with the doc but he was acting so hungry I gave him a litle green apple
