Well these aren't exactly toys as much as prep for more toys.. ;)

I decided to buy some untreated pine and cut it myself. Now while I have dreamed about setting up a small workstation in the garage for this type of thing, and still do, I don't quite have the space at the moment to make it happen. Fortunately, Crystal has been nice enough to let me use some of her heavy duty equipment (in exchange for some "for website toy photography" that is to come whenever she's ready ;) )

It was quite therapeutic, although I have even more respect for toy makers that do this continually!!!

I cut some 2x3x4 and some 1x1x4 (or something like that..) in different thickness.

Just Poifect!: Wood!

Looks great! I really need to get my husband to cut wood for me again. I'm curious about what kind of saw you used as well.

:hehe: Crystal would be better placed to say what kind of saw...it had a circular blade. And it did a great job! almost no splinters like some wood slats that I've seen :)

Fantastic!!! Looks like you did an amazing job!

Our shop is full of power tools....lost interest in cutting wood years ago.
My husband will cut up some pine for Coco once in awhile, but we both find it so easy just to buy it:)

Last time I ordered bulk pine, the shipping killed.
Granted there was a lot of work in the cutting and drilling holes, a few hours actually, but once I got into the motion it wasn't too bad.

But I most definitively could not be doing it every week-end or so!

While I was there, Crystal also had some dying going on - I won't be bothering with that

10" Bosch Sliding Compound Mitre saw. She is beautiful!

Natacha did a fabulous job - now she knows why prep work can take half a day or more :)

Nice saw, Crystal:) I have a 12 inch one.

My birds love those pine slats more than anything, lol! You gotta love it. A $2 piece of wood makes a ton of them. I put some on hanging toys and give them some as foot toys.

Is it the sliding one? That was a must to up production, yet lower production time! It is 10 times better than our first saw (Mastercraft...lasted 3 years, built two decks, house renovations, and bird toys galore...not for massive production lines though).

I said get the right saw, or none at all...so I got the right saw for the job :)

The 12" one has the option with the sweetest gliding system...but it was also $300 more, so we opted for the 10" model, as it would suit our needs.

Natacha did a great job cutting - now she's addicted ;) She also realized which pieces were easier to drill too - I think our scary drilled finger stories scared her!

 uuuh... did you say... drilled FINGERS?? :faint:
Yeah..I remembered the story of her *one* finger (never knew it was plural) and when I showed a little concerned she said it happened with a much bigger drill bit than I was using. But you could bet that the moment I felt things catch, I let go and turned the machine off!
