Ok so when ya go to Lowes or Home Depot what wood do ya buy. I want to pick some up that can be easily destroyed. Do ya buy plywood or 2x4 and cut down?

you want to be sure to get untreated wood

plywood or similar items are not recommended because of the glue used in their processing

Make sure to specify UNTREATED. Anything else will have chemicals on it.

Yeah I knew that but was not sure what wood type people usually went for.

pine is always a good choice - it is soft and can be cut thin enough for even small beaks to enjoy it :)

I was going to get Ply but I was unsure, I instead ended up getting Balsa, easy to destroy and the birds love it.

The absolute cheapest solid wood they got (i.e. no plywood). Which is usually untreated knotty pine.

I know I can use my dad's tools but I may buy my own saws and stuff to cut them down.

What about base board? I think that is pine and cut down already? I have never checked to see if it is treated or not. Hmmmm.....I see shopping in my future maybe...or at least a fact finding mission

2x4's from home depot are made of kiln dried spruce or fir and not pine. Still perfectly fine.

Untreated pine, poplar, and aspen are all safe and typically found there :)
