Wood Burning

I'm looking into getting a wood burning pen and learning to use it for art, but I had a thought! Could I use it on wood or perches for my birds? To like write their names, or do something cute. I don't think it does anything to the wood that would make it harmful, would it? (as long as it is bird safe wood, of course!)

I think it would totally be safe! Just be sure to do the actual wood burning in a room away from the birds.
