So my little blue buddy has been with me since he was seven weeks old, and he came already clipped. He was my first bird and there was so much that I did not know. When his wing feathers started to come back in, I got them clipped again.
Then I started doing research, and realized that he could be happier having all of his feathers. When he was about 8 months, I decided I wouldn't clip his wings again.
When his flight feathers came in they were gorgeous. He has now been fully flighted for about a year and a half. He is a terrible flier and has always been very reluctant to try. I let him move at his own pace. He's the boss.
Over the past month or two his flying has started to improve. Just today he took off from my shoulder, did a lap, and then landed back on my shoulder. I was one proud bird mom.
Anyway, I just wanted to show you guys how lovely Blue's wing feathers are. Every time I see him stretch his wings out I quickly take a picture. They never cease to amaze me.
ps. Sorry for the low quality pictures, they were all taken from my cell phone.
